Juno

Everyday I get people asking me how old I am which usually follows with, oh my I could have sworn you were 16 years old. I substitute teach at the middle schools and highschools and every time with out fail I get mistaken for a student...I'm being told to go to class, or a teacher will come in my classroom and ask where the teacher is, or the students will ask me out etc. A couple of weeks ago an APX Alarm salesman came to my door and asked me if my mom was home... I said no, but my husand is. Anyway needless to say, because I am constantly being told how young I look, I have always felt super young. Remember back when we were all kids and you'd say some new slang word like, oh lets say, "the bomb" or "for shizzle" and your parents would be like what the heck does that mean? I remember thinking I am never going to be like that, I'm going to be the coolest mom and will always listen to the hip music, and watch MTV, and dress cool, and know all the slang terms even when I'm 45. Well I'm only 23 years old and I've already let myself down.

Arch and I watched Juno last night, and anyone who knows me would know that I have "phrases" if you will like hold the phone, shut the front door, good freak, that flips my switch, I hear ya squawkin big chicken, I'm pickin up what your puttin down and they just go on and on(which really I owe most of my phrases to Averi, Zoolander and Nacho Libre) but this movie put me to shame. Half way through the movie I started thinking, good crap I don't understand half the stuff this girl is saying, I am TOTALLY moving towards the "what the heck does that mean" kind of mom. I think one of my favorites she said was "up the spout" meaning pregnant oh and "honest to blog" meaning are you serious? Anyway, this may be about the most random post I've ever posted, but its just been on my mind and I didn't have any pictures to update ya'll on so this is what you get.

So...was it good? I think I heard that it was good, but that was from my MIL, so I'm not so sure. I'm trying to think of some cool, oldschool saying, but my brain has been drained and won't return until after May 5th.

HAHA! Thanks for the shout out on the phrases! I laughed because we both do say a lot of phrases. And for the love, I didn't understand HALF... ok like most of what Juno said in that movie. I was like, um, what 16 year old talks like that? Most 45 year olds don't talk like that! So don't feel out of it. Plus I get the looking young thing too. Especially at work. I take a client to lunch and if there is a bar I get carded, or people ask what are you 18? Or, "did you just graduate high school?" All I have to say, is Damn, I will look fabulous when I am in my 40's! HAHA, and then they can all kiss my pasty whites. Anyway, I CAN'T wait to see you! For serious. You're pretty much my favorite! Love you Shantigity!

Let me try and use this phrase-ology in a comment:
"Good freak! Why am I not on sidebar anymore? Honest to blog that flips my switch - we go back to 2002, my old roommate was the key contributor to you being up the spout - and now I've been tossed in the internet gutter?
I better be back on there soon. You hear me squawkin' big chicken?"
How'd I do?

haha this was random & funny to read. I'm glad you got back to your blog! People think I'm young too & prob when I have a baby it'll just continue. I guess all us young looking ones will appreciate it when we are older. Is that movie good? I've been wanting to see it.

luckily no one asks me my age... they just tell me how to parent my children and look at my like they think i'm a teen mom with two kids and soon to look very pregnant with another one! i'm just sure to always wear my wedding ring. when tyler's family was here, we went on a hiking trip and these two guys were hitting on me telling me to stay when we were all leaving. i'm sure they thought i was a teenager that wasn't married, or had two kids, or prego! at least you're a freekin cute teen mom!

That's hilarious! I am trying hard to make sure I never fall into the "mom jeans" trap etc. We'll see in 20 years huh? How are you guys?

I remember one day when my mom said she was "hip" and I swore I'd never be like that...And yet every day when I look in the mirror I'm more and more like her...We should embrace it and teach Zaylie and Bryson cool phrases like "Cowabunga" and "Peace Out"!

hey Shantay I haven't seen you in like FOR-E-VER. I really liked this post. I totally relate. I used to really like rap music and now I can't stand it. Funny how things change when you become a mom.

I freakin' loved that movie! And I think some of my favorite parts were the crazy sayings they used. Didn't you love how the step-mom was always cutting out pictures of dogs? And, as bad as it is, I think my favorite part of the movie would be when she's telling her parents she's pregnant. So many great parts in that scene. "He's great in... chair." "Next time I see that kid I'm going to punch him in the weiner!"(probably my favorite one right there)" I didn't know he had it in him." "I know, right?" Sorry this comment is so long- but your post was hilarious and made me think of how much that movie made me laugh!
