Journaling Update for Moi

I'm posting this mainly for my own journaling purposes, since this is my one and only form of journaling, NOT to brag about my kid or anything of that nature...seriously. :)

We decided since we were making a lot of big changes with building the house and living in my grandparents house, and then moving into the new house, that we would wait till we moved into the new house to put Zaylie in her big girl bed. So she was a little over two, I felt sort of sad as I would read all my friends blogs saying they got toddler beds for their kids birthdays, but I knew it was just out of the question with how busy we were. So anyway, I was super nervous about putting her in a big girl bed, I mean the bed we got isn't one of those little toddler beds where they are 2 inches off the ground. This is a full blown twin bed, its like as tall as her. She was all over the place in her crib I would find her in the craziest positions in the morning so "how in the hell-o" (name that movie) was she going to not fall out of a bed, not to mention her being a two year old who thinks she is in charge of the universe, i just knew she would constantly be getting out of bed.
Well night one she got out of bed 4 times, she would come out of the door (she had mastered door knobs for a few months by now) and say "good morning!" nice. Night two, she stayed in her room but got out of bed a few times. Night three she stayed in her bed but banged her feet on the wall and talked to herself for a couple of hours. Night four-fell asleep right away with no noise and no getting out, and its been like that for the past two months! She never gets out of bed, not even for naps, she just lays down and goes right to sleep. I owe it all to supernanny, I used all of her tactics and apparantly it worked. Sa-weet.
This is how Zaylie likes to get into her bed, and then likes to slide down the matress at the bottom of the bed. She's obsessed with sliding down anything that could somehow be a slide.

Next item of business: Easter

It was a pretty quiet weekend, we went to my parents house for dinner and an Easter egg hunt. We always do two hunts, one for Zaylie, and one for the rest of us. Yes I am an avid easter egg hunter, I resort to 8 years old shoving my brother out of the way to get an egg we both spotted. However this time my brother hid them and I was shoving Arch out of the way to get an egg. Good times. Anyway I didn't win this year, Malarie did. boo. But I did beat Arch, of course. hee hee don't worry, I can talk smack like this because Arch doesn't read our blog, I don't even think he knows the address for it.

Zaylie loved finding the eggs, my mom put candy in the eggs, and everytime she found one she would shake it and put it in her basket. One egg didn't happen to have anything in it and when she found it she shook it, and got a crusty look on her face and said, "oh, no good" and threw it behind her. Here is the crusty look.

Zaylie has been loving our Easter baskets for hats, she always asks me to wear one to, so often we are just hanging around the house in our Easter hats.

Here are just a couple of cute pics of the Zaydster.

Farties

From the title of this post you are probably thinking this post would be about my child calling her farts farties or something of that nature, but no. Zaylie calls the candy smarties, "farties." I have tried working with her on it over and over saying ssssssssmmmmmmm-arties, and she says, sssssssssss-farties...with such enthusiasm like she just said exactly how I said to say it. Good times. I had them once in my purse, so now she just assumes I always have farties in my purse. So we'll be walking in the store and Zaylie will yell out, FARTIES FARTIES. Nice. People look at me like I'm farting or something. Thats all I have to say about that.

These are just some recent pictures of Zaylie in her favorite outfit that her aunt Cassie and uncle Brennen gave her. Since I'm a bad mom and never take her to get her picture taken, and don't have the talent to take those awesome pictures that are edited with photoshop like it seems like everyone can do...these will have to do :) Don't judge me and my lame picture taking skills.

I was so not posing for this picture...seriously I just happend to be in the background smiling.

OUR NEW HOUSE!

Here is the finished product... our new house that took us six months to build with arch working on it from 7 pm to 1 am every night and 15 hour saturdays. It was a lot of work to be our own general contractor and to deal with ALL of the problems that came with the process, and there were a lot, and this is the part where I should say "but it was all worth it in the end" however we really aren't sure yet if it was! Maybe ask us in a few months. Anyway here are some pics of the place, no furnished pictures yet, I'm waiting till its all decorated for that of course.

Arch designed the entry way, there is a ton of detail in the wood but this picture doesn't do it justice, I'll work on getting a better one in the future.

This is off to the side of the front door, this goes down to our unfinished basement.

Hallway to bedrooms

Main bath (Zaylie's bathroom)

Two bedrooms, I'll show those with more detail in a later post.

Master Bedroom

Master closet

Master Bath: Corner jetted tub, and Arch's sink and small linen closet
My vanity (its bigger)

This shower now has a glass door, again pictures to come later

Our shower is 4 ft by 5 ft and has two shower heads! HECK TO THE YES!

This area was supposed to be a closet on the plans, but I changed that
to be a built in office/desk area which I LOVE!

This is the family room

Kitchen and nook area

This is across the street from us, so when Zaylie goes to school she'll be able to walk to school and then I can spy on here from home. :) But its nice now too that we have a place to play in the afternoons when school is out and during the day in the summer. Sa-weet!

Well Zaylie had her second birthday on February 17th, so I want to document a little of it for my own records, since I haven't touched a piece of scrapbook paper since before I was pregnant with her. We were able to take a night off from working on the house to have a birthday party with family, and it was a blast. Zaylie and Brennen worked on their beat box routines, she got a new guitair that plays little songs, and Zaylie made Brennen push the buttons for her all night long. She also got a power four wheeler, that she totally loves, but in order for it to move you have to push a button by the handle bars, just like a real four wheeler. However she doesn't understand how to hold it down for a long period of time, so she'll push it, let go, push it, let go, push it etc. Its dang funny. Its just so crazy how different she is from her last birthday, when she turned one she was eating in her high chair not quite sure how to handle eating the cake, and this year she is sitting at her table like a big girl taking bites with her fork talking in sentences. Crazy. Oh and she was dang fat and had the roundest face last year, and this year she's super skinny.

Zaylie last year.

This year I made her a monkey cake, because she loves the "silly monkeys" as she would say in Jungle Book and Madagascar. It was a big hit, she loved it and still asks for her monkey birthday cake.

Okay so a few things Zaylie can do at this point in her life:

~Zaylie can count to thirteen and then starts saying other numbers it goes like this 8.9.10.11.12.13.5.3.7.8.2. its pretty cute.

~Zaylie can sing her abc's however when she gets to the LMNOP part she says L M N 2 P. No idea why.

~She knows all of her colors, she sometimes gets yellow and purple mixed up, but hey thats okay at least she knows red, blue, green, black, brown, pink and white :)

~She is talking in 2-4 word sentences

~One of my favorite things she says is "Oh my goodness sakes" Sama and Papa Ames taught her that and its freakin hilarious. (Zaylie came up with Sama, we don't know why because she can say grandma, she just calls her Sama)

~Zaylie LOVES to pretend and play in her play kitchen, she will first wash her hands, use her fake soap, then put some water in a pan and put it in her play microwave and tell me to be careful its hot. Her specialties to serve are corn on the cob in her play collander, and eggs on a plate. She pretends to eat it and makes the noises and everything. Its crazy the things she does with pretending because I swear I don't teach her that, maybe she is just more observant than I realize.

~Zaylie is obsessed with the Jungle Book. I brought a bunch of my parents old vhs tapes home and put in Jungle book one day and now we watch it every day, and if she isn't watching it its usually on in the back ground. She knows so many lines in that movie, and will say them at the same time the character does on the movie. Some of her other favorites are Madagascar, 101 Dalmations, and Peter Pan.

~Zaylie is in the 75th percentile for height and 25th percentile for weight. She's a stick but has such a huge belly she looks like one of those ethiopian kids. So clothes are a bummer, they are either to short, or to big around.

Zaylie got new stick on earrings and glasses and she had to see what they looked like.

HELP!!!

Okay people, I need some helps and preferrably in the next few hours, I need to decide between two families of lights for my house. Please be honest and let me know which ones you like the most, Arch and I are going tonight or tomorrow night to pick them up, so if you have 13 seconds, put in a quick vote.

This is the progress series, they have seeded glass, and are much bigger than they appear in the picture. If you want a closer look check out this quick video, http://studio5.ksl.com/?nid=59&sid=5617349 and click at about 1:55. I feel that these lights look more Pottery Barn ish while the other ones look more rustic.

We are sort of still alive

Well everyone, I actually have a very rare but very needed moment of spare time while Zaylie is napping and I thought I would blog about the comings along of our new house. However as our camera chargers are stuffed away in our storage unit the only pictures of our house are on Arch's phone, but don't you worry I'm taking a camera over this after noon because.... we are getting our cabinets installed today!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! YAY! Okay I know way too many exclamation points, but seriously folks this is a big deal. Things have been going so slow on the house that it seems like we are never going to move in, but now that the cabinets are going in we only have the plumbing and light fixtures left, and then we can move in!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Again sorry about the exclamations. Its just been a long time coming and Arch has worked so hard, he comes home from work around 6:30 or 7:00 and then changes and heads straight to the house and comes home around 12:00 sometimes 1:30, and then saturdays too. He is SOOO ready to be done with this house, but its looking awesome. Pictures to come soon!

Here are some random pics that I have from the past few months from other peoples cameras or blogs because again, we haven't had ours for six months.

Me and Averi at Christmas time, we had a superfun girls night with Joeli and Dawn, and now she has moved away from me all the way to AZ....miss you Aves, get a nice tan for me.

Arch's sister Jenna got married in January so we went to her wedding in Denver and had a great time here are some pics from the event.

Zaylie and Sassy

Why won't kids ever look at the camera?

Me and my BFF

Oh Yeah I had a bit of a mid 20's crisis and looking exactly the same as I have since I was 16 so I went blonde. I'm not totally sure how I feel about it yet, I like the change, but I'm not sure if I like it enough to keep it up. The other day some Mexican guy was walking by me and started saying something to me in spanish. I just smiled and walked on (that happens to me a lot, people think I'm Mexican and just start talking to me in spanish...no joke) Anyway I called Arch and asked him what he said to me, and Arch started laughing and said, "He told you to stop dying your hair" Nice huh.

At the Denver temple

Arch and Bren

Zaylie and Brennen Beat Boxing, this is the funniest thing to watch, Zaylie busts out dance moves and puts her hands up to her mouth while Brennen makes the noises. Dang cute.
